Terms of Use
These terms explain how SeeMe City works and what you can expect from us. They apply to everyone who uses seemecity.com, whether you are just looking around or leasing a sign.
SeeMe City is run by Octag AI LLC, a Florida limited liability company. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “SeeMe City” mean that company. “You” means you, and the business you lease a sign for, if there is one.
By using the site, you agree to these terms, the Ad Rules and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What SeeMe City is
SeeMe City is a website with a painted, virtual street. Businesses and creators lease sign space on the buildings along it. Visitors can look around for free. Miami comes first, and we may add other cities later.
The street and its buildings are artwork. They are not real buildings. SeeMe City is not run by, or connected to, any city government. Some signs are samples with made-up names. If a made-up name matches a real business, tell us and we will change it.
Who can use it
- You must be at least 13 to use SeeMe City. Children under 13 are not allowed.
- You must be at least 18 to lease a sign.
- If you lease a sign for a business, you promise that you can agree to these terms for that business.
- SeeMe City is run from the United States and is meant for people and businesses here. If you use it from somewhere else, you are responsible for following the laws where you are.
What a lease is
When you lease a building, you rent sign space on one virtual building for a set time.
What you get
- Buildings: a one-year lease. It includes the main sign. For an extra price, you can add a shop sign and a rooftop billboard if the building has them.
- Moving signs: a sign on the side of a bus, or on the blimp, is leased for 30 days.
- You pay once for the whole lease. Nothing renews on its own.
- Your sign shows on the street and on the building’s own web page. If it has a coupon, it also shows in the deals list.
What a lease is not
- It is a rental of advertising space. “Lease” is just our word for it. It is a right to show a sign on a website. It is not real estate, and it gives you no property rights.
- You do not own the building, the sign space, the street, or anything else on SeeMe City.
- It is not an investment. It has no cash value, and we make no promise about what it could be worth to anyone.
- You cannot sell, rent out, transfer, trade or give away your lease. Only the business named on the lease may use it. If you try, we may end the lease.
We may update the art, layout and features of the street at any time. If a change removes your sign space, we will offer you a comparable one or refund the unused part of your lease.
Buying a lease
- Pick a building and the signs you want, or pick a moving sign. We hold it for you for a short time (currently 30 minutes) while you add your sign and pay. If you do not finish, the hold ends and the space opens up again.
- Pay by card through Stripe. We take cards only. Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you pay. We never see your full card number. Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to the payment.
- We review your sign. We aim to finish within 24 hours, but we cannot promise that.
- If we approve it, your sign goes live.
Your lease starts on the day you pay, even if your sign goes live a little later.
Prices can change for new leases at any time. A price change never affects a lease you have already paid for. A discount code works only as we described when we gave it out, and we can end a code at any time.
Review and changes
We review every sign before it goes live. We check it against the Ad Rules. A person makes the final call. We may also use automated tools to help.
If we reject a sign, we tell you why and refund everything you paid. You can start a new lease with a fixed sign if the space is still free.
After you pay, you get a private manage link. You can use it to see your stats and change your coupon. Coupon changes go live right away, but the Ad Rules still apply, and we can remove a coupon that breaks them. To change anything else on your sign, email us. We review the change before it goes live.
Keep your manage link private. Anyone who has it can change your coupon. If you lose it, or think someone else has it, email us right away and we will help.
Your sign and your promises
You keep ownership of everything you upload or write for your sign, such as images, logos, words and links. To run the service, we need your permission to use them. You give us a free, non-exclusive permission to store, copy, resize, convert and show your sign and your business name:
- on the street and on the building’s own web page;
- in the deals list, if your sign has a coupon; and
- in share images, screenshots and short clips of the street, including ones we use to promote SeeMe City.
We may use service providers to do this for us. When your sign comes down, this permission ends, except for copies that were already shared, such as old screenshots. You can still use your own material anywhere you like.
When you lease a sign, you promise that:
- you own everything in your sign, or you have permission to use it, including logos, photos, text, and music and video links;
- what your sign says is true, and you can honor any offer it makes;
- your sign and your link follow the Ad Rules and the law;
- the details you give us, such as your email, are correct; and
- you have any licenses or permits your business needs.
If someone makes a claim against us because of your sign, your content, or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees.
Ads, links and coupons
- We label every paid sign “Ad”. Links on signs are paid links, and we mark them
rel="sponsored"so search engines know. Do not hide or fake the label. - Coupons are offers made by advertisers. The advertiser alone must honor its coupon. SeeMe City is not a party to any coupon, deal or sale between an advertiser and a customer.
- We do not promise that a coupon will work or that a claim on a sign is true. Anything you buy or do after clicking an ad is between you and the advertiser.
- If you add a coupon to your sign, it must be real. You must honor it for anyone who follows its terms until it expires. It cannot run past the end of your lease.
- If an advertiser will not honor a coupon, ask the advertiser first. You can also tell us at hello@seemecity.com. We may remove the sign, but we cannot make the advertiser give you the deal.
Refunds
We keep this simple.
- If we reject your sign, you get a full refund. We send it automatically.
- If you change your mind within 7 days of paying, and your sign has not gone live, you get a full refund. Just ask.
- Once your sign is live, we do not refund a change of mind. You can ask us to take the sign down early, but we cannot refund the unused time.
- If we end your lease because you broke the Ad Rules or these terms, you do not get a refund.
- If we end your lease for any other reason, such as shutting down the street, you get a refund for the unused time.
To ask for a refund, email hello@seemecity.com from the email address on your order. Tell us the building, for example Ocean Ave #42. Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Your bank may take 5 to 10 business days to show it. A refund is for the amount you actually paid, after any discount.
Renewing
- We will email you a reminder before your lease ends. A reminder is a courtesy. Your lease ends on its end date even if the email does not reach you.
- To renew, you pay again. A renewal is a new one-time payment for another term, at the price shown when you renew. We never charge your card unless you choose to pay.
- After a building lease ends, you have a 30-day grace period to renew. If you do not renew, the sign comes down and the building opens up for others. We may keep your sign up during the grace period.
- Moving signs have no grace period. They end when their 30 days end.
Taking a sign down
We can remove a sign, or end a lease, at any time if:
- it breaks the Ad Rules or these terms;
- we receive a valid complaint about it, such as for copyright or trademark;
- the law or a court requires it; or
- it puts people, the site or us at risk.
If we can, we will tell you why. If we end your lease for a rule break, there is no refund (see Refunds). If you think we made a mistake, email us and we will take a second look.
You can ask us to take your sign down at any time. Anyone can report a sign. See how to report a sign.
Using the site fairly
Please do not:
- fake views, clicks or coupon copies, or use bots to do it;
- copy, scrape or resell our art, code or data;
- break, overload, or try to get into parts of the site that are not meant for you; or
- use SeeMe City to break the law or harm other people.
The art, the code and the name SeeMe City belong to us or our suppliers. These terms give you no right to them, other than using the site as it is meant to be used.
No promises about results
SeeMe City is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about it. In particular:
- We do not promise any number of visitors, views, clicks, coupon copies or sales.
- Our counts are our best effort. We filter out bots, but the numbers are not exact.
- We do not promise the site will always be online or free of errors.
- We review signs against the Ad Rules, but we do not verify or back an advertiser’s claims, products or services.
Limits on what we owe
To the extent the law allows:
- We are not responsible for lost profits, lost sales, lost data or other indirect losses, even if we were told they could happen.
- If we owe you money for any reason, the most we owe is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. If you have not paid us anything, the most is $100.
Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits anything that the law does not let us limit.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we will post the new version with a new date at the top. If a change matters for a lease you have already paid for, we will email you. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept it. A change will not take away what you already paid for.
Florida law and disputes
Florida law and US federal law govern these terms. If you have a problem, email us first and give us 30 days to try to fix it. If we cannot work it out, either of us may take the claim to the state or federal courts in Florida, and we both agree to those courts.
The fine print
- These terms, the Ad Rules and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about SeeMe City.
- If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You cannot transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else without our written OK. We can transfer ours if we sell or merge the business.
- We can send you notices by email, to the address on your order.
